Animal studies using porous-surfaced Ti-6A14V endosseous dental implants have demonstrated their suitability for achieving rigid fixation through bone ingrowth. Further, direct comparison of porous and threaded implant designs have indicated possible advantages of the porous-surfaced designs when early implant loading occurs.
